On this site, you will find lots of information about cervical cancer, and what you and others can do to fight this disease. It is our hope that by learning more about cervical cancer – what causes it and how to prevent it – that more and more women will take steps to protect their health. College Campuses Are Preventing HPV & Cervical Cancer!

Women ROCC!’s peer educator training gives college students the knowledge and skills they need to promote cervical health on their campus.  Hundreds of college women and men across the country have already been trained.  They are spreading the word about:

  • The importance of getting a Pap test to check for signs of HPV
  • The link between HPV and cervical cancer; and
  • The fact that cervical cancer is the easiest type of cancer to find early and treat.

Did you know?
  • Cervical cancer is caused by certain types of a virus called human papillomavirus or HPV.
  • HPV is the most common virus in the U.S. that is spread through having sexual contact with a partner.
  • At least half of all the men and women in the U.S. will have some type of HPV in their lifetime, but never know it.
  • HPV is the number one thing that increases a person’s risk of getting cervical cancer.
